Homosexuality does of course exist in Islamic countries. It is prohibited and punished in most (although there are various degrees of persectuion and punishment: from paying a fine to the death penalty) and Islamic scholars generally view it as sinful and a perverted deviation from the norm. The Koran even mentions homosexuality five times, relating it for example to the „sinful“ life of Sodom and Gomorrah, indicating that this was one of the reasons why the city was destroyed.
In Islamic communities, homosexuality is not just a religious, but rather a social and mainly a male problem. As in dealings with women, male fears and maybe to some extent desires play a part in dealing with homosexuality, which prevents an enlightened and objective discussion of the topic.
Symbolism: while in Western societies homosexuality is generally no longer tabu and is now a public topic (shown for example by the rainbow flag), the veil (tschador) of discretion shows that in Islamic contries, virtually anything is possible, even when it comes to sexuality.

Evet onaylanmaz bir suçtur Kuran’a göre ama bence Kuran caydırma emirleri yanında affedeciliği de içerir. İslam topraklarında bu durumun bu kadar sert karşılanması İslamın aslından ziyade tarım topluluklarında yegane güç olan erkek kralların façası bozulmasın diyedir. Yoksa el altından olduğu bilinen kişiler de cezalandırılırdı. İslam inanç olarak değil örf olarak değerlendirilebilir bu konularda. İnanç kısmı ise inanç olarak kaldığı sürece kimsenin günahını yargılama hakkı yoktur aslında. O yüzden dışa taşan sapmalar olarak görülecek bu durumlara bence islam acımasız değildir bu kadar. Evet uygulamalara bakınca hoşgörü azdır her aykırı insana ama dediğim gibi bu İslam adı altında zamanla değişen ya da değişmeye direnen, toplumsal yapılarla ilgilidir. Zaten bir Osmanlıya bile baksak görürüz bu durumu zahir çerçeve bozulmadıkça olanlar pek de kurcalanmaz aslında. Elbet bu da bir otoritedir ama kendi çağına göre yakılmaktan iyidir diye düşünüyorum.
